The Santa Cruz Constitution Protection Zone is an effort to protect the right to due process for citizens of Santa Cruz county. We believe that this effort is of crucial importance now as the country as a whole continues to forfeit personal liberty and privacy in an attempt to get more security. By organizing and educating at the local level, we can help people understand their constitutional rights and why we must protect the constitution. Once we get an ordinance passed in Santa Cruz county, we will be looking for partners to help organize other cities and counties around this issue. We all have a responsibility to uphold and protect our inalienable rights in this grand experiment… Eternal vigilance is the price of freedom!

Where the constitutional rights of every resident will be actively protected by our local government!
On December 31st, 2011, President Obama signed the 2012 NDAA (National Defense Authorization Act). Sections 1021 and 1022 authorize the indefinite military detention, without charge or trial, of anyone, including American citizens, on U.S. soil.
We, the undersigned, urge Santa Cruz City and County to pass a law making Santa Cruz City and County a Constitution Protection Zone. This law will instruct our local government officials, including law enforcement, to honor their Oath to the Constitution they swore to uphold, “against all enemies, foreign and domestic.”
Local law enforcement will actively protect the constitutional rights of every Santa Cruz City and County resident, by notifying the City Council or County Supervisors when would-be violators of the Bill of Rights of our Constitution plan to illegally detain a Santa Cruz resident.
